Have you ever thought the some of the value brands maybe come from the same factory, as the original ?
Bird’s Eye Value fish fingers probably come from the same factory as their ‘best’ coffee fish fingers. The thing is, they don’t contain cod but the rather inferior pollock which is even more prone to parasitic worms in its flesh than Atlantic cod.

Kellogg's Frosties are dearer because there's more sugar in then! That means they're better 😜

I’m mot quite sure why there’s been such vitriol aimed at Useless George because of his recommendation that cheaper food costs less. It’s bleeding obvious isn’t it? So why the horror? He never said it was just as good, just cheaper. And why does that particular statement make him "out of touch’? It’s mathematically correct.

I mean, there’s been a huge amount he’s come out with lately that‘s the ramblings of a blithering idiot granted, but on this particular occasion what’s with the faux outrage?

At middle school in the 1970's we boys had to do a few cookery classes. We had to do stuff that i've never ever done again, such as bake scones, jam tarts and cakes. The most useful lesson was one that has held me in good stead throughout my life and that I've done absolutely countless times- how to cook a fry up.

I remember doing a wine infused desert with gelatine that set in the fridge at a 45 degree angle, with a custard style topping.. It was very good if I do say so and got an A.

tbf when i was at primary school there were no lessons in home economics at all. and at secondary it was only the girls whilst us boys did manly stuff with woodwork and metalwork lessons
Yes , ours also . The girls had "domestic science " led by a rather grossly overweight teacher , called "Miss Higginbottom " - very quickly shortened to Miss Piggy , long time before Kermit's squeeze . It was wartime when I was at grammar school and of course all the able young fellas had been sent to war . All our teachers were older and mostly we were "taught" by the Gym master , a retired army sergeant major from a training camp . Worse than useless . When I was at primary school we had a rather enlightened class teacher . She taught all the lads to knit , albeit with "tree trunk " needles and string , making dish cloths , and learn how to sew buttons on too . We had no facilities for cookery , but if we had had , I've no doubt that would have been on the agenda too .

Still on the subject of Useless Eustace I've just opened an e, mail saying half of the S.F.P. will be paid in advance from the end of July . He says it will help cash flow . A permanent arrangement too .
