The Big A in the top right. I still have it and it’s the best way to spread. Quiet, smooth, well on top of the job. It’s an absolute pleasure to drive and costs chuff all to run.

My family were clearly not big picture takers, at least not of the farm, I like these two of my Grandfathers combines.
I'm on the steps of the 525, my mother on the MH, family trait !!

Had these gems delivered today, lots of old photos and in amongst them his (my grandfather) application and references for his council holding.

Lot of sentimental stuff, but a fascinating read all the same.

@jendan I wish I could tell you but I’m not even sure of the exact date of the photo, must be about 1985 I suppose. We were using a lot of the top Genus pure Friesians then, I’ve been racking my brains to remember some of the ones we used most. We also used the old DPTS scheme and had a bunch of four daughters by a bull that came into the stud, they were super cows, very correct in the udder and all high yielders, one of them was used as the photo in the Genus catalogue. I’ll see if I can find it because I’m cross that I can’t remember the names!

That spot is under the M6Toll now, it was a beautiful old tree.

Irritating isn’t it when you just can’t quite remember something that you feel you should I don’t know why it always sticks in my mind that one of the AI bulls my dad used to order and that would be in the 80s was Hully mastermind
