Photos on imac

Loaded some pictures from an card out of my camera uploaded to Photos to play around with. All good so far.
Removed card ( after properly deleting it) no issue sent picture to son via mail.
Half hour later son says I have only sent thumbnail, most likely my mistake in the email.
So went back to photos but can no longer get access to any of my pictures, nothing at all wanted me to connect to cloud again .
The computer says my connection is good but whatever happens nothing.
So then get asked to update to Monteray? I assumed that possibly this was needed , but an hour later nothing still
Any ideas?

Try shutting your computer down and re-booting. In over ten years and uploading over 60,000 photos and videos to the Photos app, I’ve never had an issue with the app but did have a failed SSD external drive on which the Photo library was located. Just plugged in a new external drive and copied the library back to it from iCloud.

Big Sur did have a bug in the app that prevented the Photo library being seen and used as a screensaver. Updating to Monterey did sort that non-critical bug out and I now have random photos from my library popping up when the machine has idled for two or three minutes.

Thanks , luckily my daughter solved it by deleting the link to the cloud than reconnecting, no idea what the issue was, but hey ho it works
