Mate of mine has an auto navara, regularly tows 3 tons with it, i've drove it myself and would definetly buy an auto myself, no more slipping and burning clutches trying to manouver a heavy trailer on tarmac or concrete,

Depends on gross train weight (GTW).

NP300 is 6t, so no you would not get a full 1t in the back. Think mine is around 2.2 tonnes unladen (maybe a bit less) add 3.5t towing, only leaves 300kg for loading.

So not in a Navara

I have a manual hilux 2017, higher geared than my old land cruiser and find it a little underpowered, love the way it looks though[emoji106]

Not long have acquired an auto Amarok , 2 year old with the 2.0 engine.
Had a customers 1 year old Hilux yesterday, just a manual.
So glad I went for the Amarok.
Auto every time.

What did you think of the hilux engine compared to the amarok ?

Yeah I think the hilux is lacking a bit of horsepower, I miss the grunt of the 3 litre. Strange thing is when towing it feels like it has plenty of power.....!

Has anyone remapped or chipped a new auto Hilux? Can the gearbox be chipped? My new Hilux seems to hold onto 5th gear for too long rather than jumping into 6th

Did 320 miles of motorways and A roads last night in my Ranger 3.2 auto everything from rush hour stop start round Manchester to a late night high speed run back over the Pennines and managed 32mpg average. It was showing nearly 35 for a while but on the way home late last night on clear roads my lead right foot was enjoying itself which dragged the average down a bit!

My Auto Navara managed average 33mpg in 18k miles over 6 months, and i don't hang about. Lot of my journeys are over 30miles, don't do any stop start type driving really, circa 10% of milage would have been towing
