Pickup insurance

Just had the renewal for my Wildtrack from a broker. It's going up from £550 to £1,050. I contacted NFU, who have all of our other policies and they quoted £1,150. Are other people finding their pickup premiums have doubled?

These guys were over 50% less to insure my Navara with same FC level cover. NFU were found to be taking the pi$$ and they are losing all our policies now as a result.

Recently renewed my insurance and fairly sure that the 2014 Ranger Limited automatic cost less this year than last and was no more than £400 but with a £100 excess. Fairly sure it was either £350 or £360 with any driver over 30 years of age. Obviously full no-claims discount.

Who are you folks insuring with?

I moved to the local broker, Caleb Roberts, several years ago and have been insuring with NIG through them for the last 3 years. Saving was £800/yr (25%) over the NFU, and they've been ever bit as good with any (small) claims I've made.

I just looked on my last renewal and my L200 is lumped in on the same policy as a tractor, a SP sprayer, telehandler and quad bike. Cover was £1400 for all of those, fully comp.

I have moved between these 2 for past twenty years and can't fault either. Caleb are using Victor for vehicles at the moment.

Current 57plate ranger, 3 named drivers, all over 30, full ncb, also covered for commuting to my other job (important to check small print that it covers this)
Around £400
Looking to change to 14 plate amarok, no change on insurance.

I find vehicles ok with NFU. Everyone was telling me to look around. I have a 10yr old Skodia and time you added breakdown, windscreen and of course low excess no one could beat #550 fully comp. Protect nc. Business and pleasure. Spent hours do this to achieve no advantage.

Its not like for like obv where you live has a major effect.

But NFU on house insurance has come back with a silly quote. Even after spending 30 mins on questions.

Double cab picks seem expensive to insure to me.L200 18 plate is £600 with NFU yet they insure our 5 tractors and combine for £800 ,value of £120k and a couple smallish claims in the last couple years, seems odd.

Sometimes these direct line type companies won’t do business insurance only private, that’s why they are cheaper, something to watch for.
