My DMax with 60k miles on the clock is showing signs of oil around the inlet pipe and intercooler. I dread to think what it looks like on the inside.
So this got me looking at blanking the EGR vavle etc,. However I'm reluctant to do this as it's bound to throw error codes and need somebody with a laptop to tinker with the electronics. All with 12 months warranty left on the truck too.
But something that caught my eye are Catch Cans that filter and condense the fumes/vapours from the engines breather before being circulated for re-combustion. It doesn't take fumes from the EGR valve, just the engine breather which I imagine contain more oil vapour/moisture.
So my question is,. What are people's experiences with Catch Cans? And are the vapours from the crank case a lesser problem than the EGR fumes?
Am I right in thinking Mann Hummel are well regarded in the filtration world? I am looking at their Provent 200 drained away to a tap rather than back into the sump.
