Fruit for fresh consumption is all hand picked.

Locally there are several growers who have shakers for processing, cherries, apricots and peaches.

Last year we had a small crop, this years looks promising. I love cherries. I fully intend to sit under a tree and eat cherries until I get the collywobbles.

It’s slowed up a lot in central France. Been bloody chilly since I put the cows out around the 25 th of March. Not a spring like last year that’s for sure! We might have had something to mow had we got some irg though. We need some warm and some wet here really.

The grass here has stood still for the last 2 or 3 weeks but I assume its a lot more serious for top fruit and wine producers.

Yes.

We got off very lightly, all things considered. We aren’t in a really bad area, but you drive by some areas of vines that are horrific.

We lost all the table grapes, 3/4 of the apricots and some late peaches.
But there is still a lovely crop of cherries, peaches and the apricots will be worth a fortune!

Castex was down here last week, he said that France had lost a third of its wine and half of its stone fruit.

What about apple producers in the Limousin ?
