I watched the rugby European championships over the weekend, there seemed to be a lot of people allowed in the stadiums out in France.

Is your r rate better than over here?
Its not good. Max 5000 public at an event. Was going too 11000 from 01/10 but I'm not sure it will now.
Mrs lbp was going to the Arc, wanted to see Enable run, now the daughter has a flat in Paris it made it an easy trip. Not going now as too much of a risk. :( She isn't happy about it !

It sounds a lot more relaxed than here, I think England have trialed a thousand in the stadium but Wales are still zero spectators.

It is NOT relaxed. The vast majority do what they are asked and DO NOT want another full lockdown..
Everyone is aware of the state of the economy. Everyone knows we have to have commercial activity, and education, to make the wheels go round. As far as horseracing is concerned, here its agriculture, a profession, as such it continues. Albeit with limited (5000) members of the public.

This drought is getting to be a bit boring! It’s been brown here since the beginning of July! An easy summer hay making and harvest was nice but I now find my self longing for some green. We went to visit that castle they are building using médiéval methods at the end of August and the top of the Nièvre was green, reminded us what we were missing! Trees here all look very sad I think the drought has as much to do with it as Autumn. I hope they recover.

A bit of a diffrent posting today.
In memory of Michael McEnaney who passed away on 5th of September after a nearly a five year battle with cancer. He started to farm here in france in 2006 and enjoyed every mintue of it. The farm was unsusal in the fact that it was all Belgiam Blue. With a fat cow going to a local butcher every ten days or so. I think that deal was on going on the farm for about thirty years or so. The butcher retired in 2018. There would have been70/80 csections here every year. Seen more setions in a few weeks of starting to look after the farm for Micheal than i have in my life time of farming. Down to just 5 blue cross cows now. The last of the big black blue calved on the morning that he died
May he rest in peace

A thoughful post. A change in the landscape of comme il faut quietly noted.

Waiting for the rain. Not much grass any where. Is the rain to late to get a flush of grass this year

Hope you got some. We have had a damp morning. Last year it started end of September too and it greened up within a week. Our cows came on the 11th of November and we still had a few decent bits of grass after the last bloke’s cows had hoovered most of it up.
