Nice pictures, you guys do work some steep ground, visited the north island new year 2012 and took a ride in a silage truck. No thank you. Driving round a hillside with fresh air under the wheels on one side and the driver telling me it can lean over a lot more than that :wideyed:. Way too scary for me !!

That would be the Waiau river its typical of all our rivers in that its a braided river it usually runs at 40-60 cubics but in flood when its bank to bank it will carry over 1000 cubics our irrigation is taken from this river and gets shut when the river goes below 23 cubics.

It takes around 24 hours for the water to get from the hills to this point but when its in full flood its a impressive sight and there's not much that stands in its way.

Thanks for the pictures.i enjoy seeing farming in other parts of the world.why don't you like the 6210r.
Nick.....
We felt it was a step back from the previous 7530 with its enormous bonnet and and lots of little things like having to lift the bonnet to check the oil and needing spanners to remove panels to service it when you never used to it was also very noisy in the cab as it had a loud booming noise at high revs. the biggest problem was with the cooling package the radiators can not handle any rubbish the core is so fine any rubbish no matter how small gets trapped on the front of the radiator meaning constant cleaning ,at times we couldn't make it the length of 10 ha paddock without stopping to clean it.

Thanks, lovely pictures, when would they have been taken

The majority of them were taken this past season which is from September -mid April one or two may have been previous seasons but none are more than 3 years old.

The final big job of the year is maize it was all about a month late but we had no serious frosts so it was quite relaxed . The new maize front turned up a week into the season but has been a revelation compared to the old 360.

We are in Rotherham /Culverden about a hour north of Christchurch and 20 mins from Hanmer springs.

Very smart outfits, ;) Should of gone out there years ago when I had my chance!

Go for it its never to late , we are always looking for staff that are prepared to work.

New front looks good, bet it's made crop flow a lot smoother!!

& Jon knows how to make people work lol.

How much maize have you left to do Jon?

We are all done ,we did a few big days when they started forecasting lots of rain and we were finished and in the pub by Wednesday afternoon just before it started rain. The new front has probably increased the output of the chopper by 20% if take the time we used to waste unblocking the old one in to account.
