Pig feed

Ok so it probably has been asked before but here goes. We are red tractor for pigs and cereals. Now I know if I buy in grain it’s supposed to be from a red tractor farm but if I drop red tractor for my own cereals is there a problem with feeding the cereals as we already do.

You would still be able to feed the cereals, but it couldn't be sold as red tractor pork. As its then non assured cereals.

I knew that was the case if buying in didn’t release the same applies if I grew it my self. Just goes to show they have us by the short and curlys

There was provision under the beef and lamb assurance to be able to feed homegrown cereals without the arable side being assured. Presume this still applies but don't know if this applies with pig assurance.
Worth asking your assurance body I'd say.

As long as you have an answer ready for their questions, you should be ok.

One solution would be to "buy" a small amount from a neighbour so you can show the inspector an invoice and quote your neighbour's dead tractor number. Assuming he has one...
