Pig muck insecure load

I have been leading pig muck recently and I was pulled into a lay-by for a vehicle safety check and was fined for an insecure load because I didn’t have a net over the pig muck. Has anybody else had this happen or heard of having to net every load?

Must be tightening up on ag trailers.

I've seen a tractor and trailer get pulled over for pulling beet along the road only slightly heaped up but with no tailboard. I thought that was foolhardy myself. Was the OP in a trailer with the tailgate fitted or not? I've known people cart dung without it.

Was the OP loaded to the extent that the stuff was piled up high? Might be better in a silage trailer?

If you have and trees overhanging the road then you should net them in the autumn to prevent leaves blocking the gutters.

Where would we be now if all this nonsense had been put into law before the industrial revolution?!

If the unsecured load is higher than the sides of the trailer, there is a risk of some of it coming off. Even if it's below the sides of the trailer and not secure, in that it can move, there is a risk that such movement can make the trailer unstable. Just look at the WTF thread.

It's worth remembering that the dynamics (scientific laws of mass in motion) are totally different between a couple of tonnes of pigmuck/spuds/hay towed by a MF 35 at 10 mph and 18 tonnes behind a Fendt (other makes are available) at 30 mph

I sense that like the "Don't drive your tractor to the pub" thread, this is going to run and run as some people/farmers seem unable to grasp the concept that the law applies to them as well as everyone else
