Pig Permit

I have 1200 x 7-35kg pigs. Pays well. I’ve calculated that without too much upheaval I can go to 2500.

They wouldn’t all come in at the same time. Likely to be 2 batches.

One batch of say 1250 would be at 30kg when the other batch would be at 15kg.

There would be no time when I had over 2000 pigs at 30kg.

Basically, does the EA Permit only kick in if you have over 2,000 30kg pigs at anyone time?

Really can’t be dealing with some “lanyard” turning up to tick boxes, take my profit and putting it in their government pension. ?

1990 places to 35kg

500 places to 30-34kg (basically the laggers/hospital/backward pen).

Keen to hear from anyone operating a 2000+ weaned unit without an EA Permit.

Hi Tom,

It does.

I just didn’t know if it only kicked in if you had 2000 at that weight at any one time I.e would you be exempt if they are varying weights.

But it appears that this is irrelevant. The permit requirement kicks in if you have over 2000 pig spaces (for pigs 35kg or more).

I’ll have a word with the pig company re having 2500 (1900 to 35kg and 600 to 30kg). Thanks.

Do you know what various companies are paying around us now Tom (easey/packington (now part of xxxxxxxxx)/willerby/xxxxxxxxx etc)?

I was with Easey’s several years ago and they were paying 60p p/w (finishers).
