Pigeons

We’ve a old open fronted shed used to store machinery and there’s pigeons appeared and they are messing all over the equipment. There’s no food source in the shed or close by and it’s not enclosed from the weather really so not ideal nesting. I don’t want to shoot them because I’d damage the roof which is presently in decent condition. A gas banger would be the last resort as we’ve industrial units right next to this shed. Anything else I can try ?

Air gun, plenty of people shooting feral's in sheds on YouTube, just choose your shots and have the steel beams as back stop's.

A red led headtorch and a BSA Mercury air rifle gets rid of them. Webley bolt action .22 shotgun will drop indoor pigeons without damaging roof sheets, and .22 cci shotshells work well in a rifle at close ranges.
Cleveland center car park in Middlesbrough has strips of spikes where birds used to roost so they can't land anywhere now..

I've shot them in cow sheds with air rifle and night vision but I've also had success with a shotgun before they enter the buildings, ferals fly close together and you can often drop two for one shot, had about 25 to deal with, maybe shot 12 and the rest haven't been back

Cheap break barrel air gun and torch

best waiting for a dark stormy night theY just fly round the shed and land again if it’sraining sideways outside so you’ll get most shot

There are all sorts of exciting air rifle pellets that can be used safely inside buildings these if you do some research but a dark moonless night and a bright torch and you can catch them by hand. Not sure if plastic pellets would protect against damage to roofs. I know that there are pellets made out of sugar for use in feed stores. I am sure there will be others.

In my youth as a student, I used to catch feral pigeons for falconers. One asked me to get him some. Me: How many? Him: Oh, as many as you can get! Same question got the same answer. OK, so the hunt begins.

There was a derelict row of cottages where pigeons roosted, gaining entrance via a few broken slates. Crawling along the roof spce dragging a sack got me a couple of hundred. Next, I learnt of a church tower. Yes, there were pigeons, but way up two flights of a ricketty wooden ladder, then crawling from one joists to the next with no floor except a rather hard one waay down there at ground level. Far too dangerous! But the danger diminished with the pints, so a few more dos got added to the bag.

I phoned my customer a few days later. How many have you got? Oh, two or three hundred. Ye gods, I thought you might manage 20! Moral, if you are going to do a job, make sure you get a detailed specification, preferably in writing! I still worry about all that money I thought I was going to make!

I could sort this for you now problem and would pay for air gun shooting rights on your land..

Based in the East Midlands, fully insured

I'm a commercial manager and father of 4, just looking to get back into airgunning after putting everything into my career and family for the last 20 years

We had a problem with starlings and someone knew someone who knew a man who was great at getting rid of the problem. they arrived one night and shot for an hr but I could have hit more with a pea shooter but they were good at making holes in the roof, daylight showed the extent of the damage, expensive lesson learned :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
