Weve bought a few weaners a couple of weeks ago and they seem to have a cough. Just wondered if anyone could advise what it could be and why?
Thanks

Depends on the history of the pigs.

I would always say that it was pneumonia, I have noticed a trend among vets to not 'allow' antibiotics unless the everything has been tested etc, it would require a vet visit after all to jag them with antibiotics.

Worming won't need a vet visit, you might need a note from him to say that you can buy some wormer online, depends on your history.

By the time you have got the wormer, dosed the pigs with it, the cough may have stopped anyway due to the pigs getting better or becoming dead.

Are they really heaving or just a light cough?

It was a cough like someone trying to clear there throat not puff/pant like i’d associate with pneamonia in cattle. Wormed them yesterday morning and they seem to be not coughing as much... thank for the help everyone.
