Pilates

Anyone tried it ?

I tried a free taster session and I'm hooked.
I must admit it was a little bit more of a workout than I expected.
Both myself and friend ended up red in the face, sweating and puffing .
But the affects afterwards was WOW felt like someone had realised all the tension in my body.
Would certainly recommend it if you want to work on muscle strength, tone and flexabiity.

I've heard them say a good session takes a bit of recovery

Is it for men as well, ? I get too many aches and creaks/ not so good mobility these days ..(n)

Yes, the following day I could feel it.

It's supposed to be great for maintaining flexabilty , muscle tone and core strength.

Reaching that time of life when my body is starting to creak and resist a little , I thought it was time to do something about it and try and keep as subtle and flexible as possible.
I did read a review of one lady in her 70s that mobility had got quite restricted and the doctor recommended Pilates.
She felt it had done wonders for her mobility.
There are classes for men and women, you should give it a go (y)
Let me know if you do and how you've got on (y)

I would highly recommend Pilates for anyone, we have had a men’s class running for nearly five years and it’s been great for my back which used to give me trouble.
Concentrating on core strength and flexibility, I always notice when I don’t do it!

We do it on Monday evening and I know when it’s been a hard session as on Wednesday it feels like I’ve been punched in the stomach!

Have just done my 4th session , my body can twist and bend into positions it's not been in for years.
A definite benefit for anyone getting stiff and achy in old age .

What are the main differences between Pilates and Yoga?
Which would be the better for dealing with back problems.
Woke up with a trapped nerve or something on my right hand side lower back last Monday morning, getting better now, wondering if Pilates or Yoga might help. I do a lot of lifting of wood on to my firewood processor.

Pilates is supposed to help relax tense muscles and help with strengthening muscles in the body.

Yoga helps increase the flexibility of your joints.

Perhaps it's worth contacting your local yoga/pilates group and the instructor could recommend which is best for you.
