Free lift masted Manitou. Anything I need to know about re-fitting a TEK reel?

Managed to split mine by leaning it on a scrap skip:-(

I'll wind the pipes on the reel before connecting the carriage end. Do I need to wind in any pre-load to the spring?

Tec-Real? Whats one of them :ROFLMAO:

if you haven't broken the spring in side then ye just wind the pipes on, if you lift the forks up so the pipes are at there shortest point then do 1 extra wind to preload the spring that will be it, shouldn't need to do more than that or you will break the spring from over tension.

That was quick!
I'm 20 years older than I was last time I played with anything on the mast. Currently at the *fitting some replacement fixings* stage as the originals are scattered round the yard.
One full turn is simple enough. Thanks. I hope the seals will go another few years.

I have been reading your starter thread with interest. Mine is currently kicking out of engagement as soon as one cylinder fires. I suspect the lift pump is failing as it starts OK with the boost button engaged.

Thanks.

Another name from UK.Business.Agriculture appears, together with JB. There are still a few of us around!

Tim and others used to frequent a Usenet group uk.business.agriculture before the days of TFF, BFF and the likes, we had a meetup at Oz's place and I bought some feed barriers from Tim.
Indeed! I'm pretty much retired from farming now. The farmhouse sold, 4 house terrace in the grain barn and we live across the road. Land largely let out to another TFF member who is currently feeding a bunch of Hereford heifers through the rest of the feed barriers:)
