Pins and bushes

well, bushes really, but sounded a bit dodgy as a thread title.

Anyone know where I could buy a length of steel made up so I can cut bushes off it. We’re talking 30mm ID, 50mm OD sort of stuff. I’ve got lots of stuff to use as pins but no bushes to use. To be used for ram bushes and general bodgineering.

Thanks All

Sounds like a boss not Bush? Bushes tend to be 10mm thick walls max often.

I have bought 50mm round tine holder bosses in the past to use as bosses on projects.

Think you will be lucky as I can't see much use for it apart from a ram cylinder. It's too thick to be drawn or rolled so would need machining and that gives problems and cost. Short lengths maybe I have used collars before not very long but can be welded together.

So I’ve found a few thanks to having the correct terminology. One of the jobs required of these bosses is to repair a shear grab (I had trouble with this on here before) that needs longer bosses to connect the rams to the grab. Ours has a gap of 3/4 inch either side of the ram with no support and this dry silage we’ve got is bending the pins.

It takes 30mm pins so what is the ideal size of boss ID, 30, 30.25 or 30.5? Wants to be a good fit imo as any give will allow the pin to bend.

I use a bit of scaffold tube as a bush on Friday:ROFLMAO: it was slightly too big on the OD and the ID so slit it with grinder to make a spring bush(y)

Did the job quite well:D

Not used them but often look on the website as some useful stuff there. https://steerforth.co.uk/ (y)

Need a one for the front of the JD3800
All the rest are tight, but this one certainly isn`t
JD want £166 for the pin and £66 for each bush

I profile a lot of hardox 400 plate 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80mm thick.
When I have off cuts I cut 60 and 80mm diameter blanks for later use.
They can be drilled to suit normally with 1/2 mm clearance up to 51mm.
you should leave 2 or 3mm clearance for the ram, If you make them too tight you can sometimes mess up the gland seals as the ram needs to flex.
Delivery would be £12.00
