Placed fert and slugs

Has anyone seen any difference where they have placed fert with the seed in terms of slug effect,i.e does the acidic nature of some ferts act as a deterrent?
Was thinking micro granular fert may provide more point of contact for control of juveniles etc which dont usually come to the surface?
Not looking to replace slug pellets but to ramp up control measures really...

Yes my neighbour placed tsp in the autumn and had very little slug problems and he mentioned this to me and thought that the same as you are suggesting.

Hi Andrew - No real effect from the starter fert, but what we have noticed is a healthy plant with good root mass can withstand more slug grazing. Makes sense really.

What sort of drill/placement system does he use?

Andrew

he has a sumo versa drill and puts the fert in an amazone hopper on the front. not sure exactly weather it goes with the seed or placed seperatley.

i also saw now slug pressure with the seed hawk placed fert this spring. although weather the corn got away that much faster or weather the dap helped i dont know. i did tilt the drill back slightly so that the fert was at the same depth as the seed.
