The branch line train from Truro to St Ives is picturesque. Go down and skim stones on the beach then head back to Truro for a meal.

Where abouts you looking to stay?

That's what I'm asking really, I'd rather stay somewhere that still resembles a working village or town and isn't completely heaving with tourists, so basically nowhere around @Beef farmer area.

I like what I've seen of the Lizard because it looks just like the South Hams.

If it's rustic you're after then the Lizard could be it - draft horses, thatched roofs, shillings, moon pointing...

Mousehole is worth a visit, always nice there.

My favourite parts/bits to see of West Cornwall are:

Coast path along Porthcurno

The drive from St Ives to St Just on the coast road (B3306). Geevor tin mine and Levant mine are both along the way and worth a visit. A large section of coast path near Pendeen is a by way for all traffic and is driveable in a 4x4 and the views are stunning.

A trip on the train branch line from St Erth to St Ives is nice.

If you go to Newlyn get a Jelberts ice cream. The Mrs likes Mousehole but Im not that keen on the place.

Walk from Lands End to Sennen, lunch in Sennen then back is good.

Open top bus operates along all of the coast road and you get great views (over the hedges onto farmland) worth taking the bus trip right around the coast.

Moo maid ice cream is made on a farm between St Ives and zennor. They have a ice cream shop in St Ives and is very good and worth a try :)

Jelberts only do vanilla ice cream but it is amazing. Get a large tub with clotted cream on top and a chocolate flake for the full taste experience.

I had to go out spending about 3 days hanging out the loader bucket cutting branches down in January so they could get those barsteward buses up our road!
