Personally I'd put in for the buildings for your stock and be straight up with them, and apply for a small 2 bed bungalow, that you can add to after.
I think it still is usually, but if you're not in a rush for the building then I'd go that route. It's different if you need it for the winter though.I like your thinking.

Yes I thought you needed about 70 cows or 1000 pigs to apply for a house with good reason. A house isn't a deal breaker but living on site is ideal.
Apart from objections there isn't a reason to object to the shed?
