If a planning application is officer delegated and no extention of time has been granted and a deciesion is due shortly and the outcome uncertain - is it possible to ask what it will be before set in concrete or withdraw it or just let him give the verdict ?
No real feed back to date .

My OH rung the case officer up every day for the last 10 days , she wasn't taking no for an answer.

I am usually on the Officer's case for at least the week prior to the decision date; if you just sit back, they will do the same. They have 10's of applications on the go at any one time and I'm sure it is he/she that shouts the loudest. If you aren't getting a response find out who their superior is and contact them.

It's a shame my architect wasn't as pro active as yourself.

Sorry if there are any architects on here but that is a common occurrence. Architects jobs are far more involved than just planning and therefore let things drag on at the pace the LPA determines. As obtaining planning is our end goal on most jobs then this is what we are pushing for. We have architects who will use us for planning so they can get on with other things.

I don't seem to get much luck with emails. I would phone and phone and phone until you get an answer.
I'll try something to ask to gauge outcome -11th hour deadline and if withdrawal possible or let it run course?
If officer delagated -they can do it when they want can they if received all consulations and details ?

Why would you want to withdraw it? Are you expecting a refusal? If you know it's going to be refused then withdraw the application, otherwise let it run its course.
As for the timescale. A case officer can make a decision anytime after the 4 week statutory consultation has finished, but in reality it rarely happens before 6 weeks. I find that on many applications that the case officer has written their report and made their decision but it is sitting on a superiors desk waiting to be signed

Mystery to know what their doing - as doubt he will say the way its going ?

You would think that wouldn't you, but it is commonplace for them to tell you how they are leaning, I always phone up and ask about applications after consultation as the case officer's are more likely to ask for an amendment which will smooth the path rather than let it drag on and refuse it.
Planners hate refusing applications because the paperwork for a refusal is much more time consuming than an approval so it is always in their best interests to negotiate.
