Planning for slurry storage

im wanting to convert an existing straw bedded shed into cubicles but this shed is too far away to get slurry to excisting slurry store which isn't big enough anyway. I'm thinking a lined lagoon or panel wall tank. What do I need planning wise as haven't ever had anything to do with such things? It won't be near water course or a road . I'm in Scotland

Dig a big hole. Tell nobody and just get on with it...

What hole?

Just to highlight some reasons to get the appropriate paperwork in place.

Main issues I have found with no paperwork are if you sell up or if you are applying for money. Farm sales have be delayed and buyers pull out due to no planning or building warrants. I have had a few building projects very nearly stop due to banks not lending money when they found out about no planning or building warrants on existing buildings, they required a retrospective application and added extra headaches at a time when were already plenty, it also paused one project to allow paper work to be sorted and funding to be secured pushing the project very close to immovable deadlines.

Other are insurance, without building warrant, insurance will likely be invalid. NFU do tend to still payout but others may not. This is because the building warrant process checks the building has been designed and built to the appropriate standards.

Fees for retrospective applications are also more expensive.

I know plenty do just get on with it but I just wanted to highlight some issues I have seen with this approach.

You are absolutely right of course and my comment was somewhat tongue in cheek. However it is often easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. If everyone did everything by the book all the time I'm afraid agriculture in the UK would grind to a halt and we would all work for the HSE, Environmantal/welfare enforcement and of course the mighty farm quality assurance schemes.
