Mostly found in woodland, but some along field edges. No auricles, hairy leaf sheaths and shiny leaves.
 
I reckon it is false brome or certainly of the Brachypodium (sylvaticum) genus. Could be tor grass but the leaves look huge and wide. According to my book and some google it likes shady places and margins, also can be the yellow-green colour in the photos above.

From my book (Collings guide to grasses, sedges, rushes and ferns):

...very common grass of shady places; a tufted perennial with lax stems to 100cm. Leaves lax, often hairy, to 12mm wide, with sheaths usually hairy. Inflorescence a nodding raceme with awnd and stalked spikelets. Flowering July-August. Confused with Breaded Couch which has hairless leaves and unstalked spikelets. Woods, scrub and shady hedge banks often persisting in the open when scrub is cleared, when the leaves me be yellowish-green...
