im looking to establish 200m of new hedge/screening/along side a footpath

Any recommendations for firms in the NE

I was thinking one line of hawthorn with a second line of blackthorn

Awesome person proof hedge in 5/6 years?

I don't know about firms, but I would definitely put some hazel into the hedge, I found it makes it nicer to lay in 5 years giving a very thick hedge. Gelder rose also grows like stink and makes a hedge very unattractive for people to try and climb over very quickly. Also nice to put in an oak to make a hedgerow tree in 100 years time. An oak I planted on the farm is now 5 ft high and gives me great pleasure every time I pass.

Word of warning if using blackthorn it will sucker like hell and in a few years you might find yourself responsible for keeping the footpath clear

Thanks for the suggestions. Thorpe Trees might just be what I need
( I know buying the plants and doing it myself would be cheaper)
And thanks for the comment re:blackthorn

I'd recommend Thorpe Trees too. I know a few of the staff and have bought loads of plants over the years, very good to deal with. Lots of farming connections so they know what the job is.
