On paper, it has the same performance as my Hypertherm Powermax 45, yet it's about a tenth of the price. Take from that what you will

There are certainly cheaper machines than the Hypertherm that are still reputable brands with known backup. I'd steer clear of the ultra-bargain basement stuff and look at those instead.

I have a sip 45 it is 240v good up to 8mm but I shod have got the 415v one the new version is hg700 or some thing like that

We have an r-tech, it’s been good. Don’t do anything severe with it though.

I have a Hypertherme 65 and it has been good until recently , now it keeps cutting out . Error code say replace torch consumables but makes no difference . It’s been away to two different dealers one couldn’t get to the bottom of the problem and sent it back and the other says there’s nothing wrong with it . Works ok for two minutes and that’s it . Hypertherme their selves are no help at all . If anyone knows someone who may know something about them pls let me know .

+1 for R-tech, I have a HF40 that will be 10 years old now and only thing it’s needed other than consumables was a new trigger switch as it got stood on was only a couple of quid though.
Says it will cut 16mm but I have cut thicker, it was very steady though!
Uk based company with excellent backup and support. I also have an R-tech 200A ac/dc tig which is a great bit of kit.

R-Tech P50HF here and I think it's pathetic tbh. Supposed to cut 18mm clean. Not a chance. It struggles to clean cut 10mm. Have a heavy 32amp supply for it too... It might have to go back yet.

Have you a decent dry air supply for it, that makes the biggest difference to my cut quality.

Don't have an air drier, just an inline water separator and regulator and do drain the tank regularly.

Oerlikon and Hypertherm at work. The fabrication boys don't seem to be particularly fond of the Oerlikon, given some of the rather choice phrases i've heard used to describe it.

You get what you pay for with plasma cutters, I made the mistake 10 year's ago when semi-decent brand's were selling them for £2k+, I stupidly bought an SWPcut-40 for £500 and it was a terrible machine with very expensive consumables which never seemed to last longer than 5 minutes each. Was supposed to be able to cut 10mm clean and struggled to cut 6mm, it was in and out with the service engineer.. Stopped using it for a long time!
2 year's ago I bought another machine, ex-demo with a 3 year warranty, capable of cutting 18mm clean and 25mm severance on a single phase supply. The consumables are quite expensive for this one but they last a long time.
BUY ONCE, CRY ONCE!

The cheaper machines often are very expensive in consumables.
have a look at Oxford cut makers. Not the lightest of machines but durable. Cheap to run and made in Uk. They can also heat things up( no way like a gas torch but ok for heating nuts)

I just so happen to be looking for a new plasma cutter.

My ancient unbranded one has died again.
Had it repaired a few years ago for about £280, not spending that on it again.

Half tempted to get a £200 one as I don't use it a lot but I am a believer in buying good stuff.
Looking at the Warrior machine as I have a Warrior welder and it's excellent

I had an IFL cut 40 for a few years, was a good machine, could cut 10mm as well as i could with an oxy torch (which is to say, not amazingly but it got the job done!)
Could sever 12mm. Good machine, and cheap consumables.

I now have a tec arc 65, it's a different class of machine. Being able to get a nice cut on 30mm is a bit of a game changer.

I filled mine with silica balls and a bit of tissue on top
Never had a problem

Set my hypertherm up with this. Plus automatic drain valve on the compressor tank. Plus drain valve as per usual on the regulator.

1 on the left I had from the middle of lidl and the 1 on right came with the cutter
1 in left is full of these

and 1 on right full of tissue paper

Now I know my compressor puts out water but I've never had a issue cutting with the plasma
