We've seen a complete turnaround from 75% of our customers on 4 layers to 75% on 6 last year.
I think the extremely dry conditions of 2018 caught a few out and they all decided the extra was worth it.
Definitely worth the extra if you're going to carry some over imo.

25μm wrap every time, I've tried thinner wraps and have always been disappointed. How many layers depends on bale shape, dry matter, stacking method and length of storage. Does next year mean the end of the 20/21 winter or the start of the 21/22 winter?

20/21 winter very curious to what other people do and the reasons behind the choice, after weighing some bales from a contractor and from my baler sometimes you have to have a rethink.
Was reading on the net that up to 24 hrs after baleing wasnt to late to wrap before the quality starts to slide, when all the wrap makers say as soon as which i have done in the past but as always trying to get the best compromise between quality price and common sense

Sorry to jump in on a conversation, but what is the view on clear films? I always use black and have very little bird damage to bales but there seems to be a push towards clear.

Always use 6 layer in this part of the world only have two customers that ask for 4 layers we don’t supply plastic to our customers but have found silowrap to be the best and silotite a close second all the rest are cheaper but you get less bales per roll!! If I remember correctly we get 24 bales from silowrap 23 from silotite and between 19-22 from other makes
