Platts Harris Company Announcement.
“ We have announced internally today “subject to contract” that discussions have reached an advanced stage for Lookers to sell the interests, goodwill and assets of Platts Harris to the Russell’s Group. It is expected that a full agreement will be finalised by the end of October.
Extremely sadly we have to also announce that it is proposed as part of this this consolidation within the Russell’s Group for the closure of our Darley site and the proposed relocation of a number of employees to Russell’s Ag at Cubley.
Our sincere gratitude to you for your friendship, professionalism and business relationship that we have enjoyed with many of you for generations, we hope this will continue for many years with Russell’s Ag

Sad times. Lovely depots, great staff and generally lovely company. I thought Lookers were happy to let them carry on though perhaps the virus situation has caused them to look again.

Sad to see a well known and respected name disappearing.

Lookers were having a bit of bother a few months ago, so probably needing to slim line their business.

Went to the opening event at the new depot at cubley last October, makes the darley site look like a scrap yard.. bit of a trek to work for those guys though!

Platts were getting expensive imho, we never used them for much.
Large dairy farm I work at is all blue, and all the tractors are now from Cubley despite the son doing his college placement at Darley Dale

Lookers owned Platts (and numerous car dealerships) long before they bought the Harris group, (which is too long ago for me to remember) they got rid of a few of the dealerships.. Lincs Motors, also quite a long time ago.
