Play in lower link arms, tractor end.

We have some play where the pin holds the link arms to the casting on a mf 6480. I was hoping the pin was the weakest link so would have worn but it seems the casting has worn. Anyone had this and what was the fix?

Play between the pin and casting, or the link arm can move side to side in the casting clevice? Assume you have confirmed it is not just between the arm and it’s ball.

Yes, the pin has play in the casting, but also the ball slides up and down the pin.
On our later model 6480 the clevis is narrow so the ball can't move sideways which is better, just not shaw if the old model should have spacers or bushes to stop the movement. Not had it long.

Play in the casting is a bit of a problem, I would expect it is the casting rather than the pin. It will only be more expensive to resolve if left. You either want a housing from Massey breaker, or to line bore, out layer if weld in and re line bore it to the pin diameter.

If you were worried about the side to side movement, some washers will help.

We’ve line bored the casting and fitted hard steel bushes to fix the issue on ours, with the trumpets off you would possibly fit it on a decent size milling machine to bore them out
