Plenty of cheer at highland show

We were there on Thursday and really enjoyed it ,I agree there was a great vibe about the show it was like a demob fever folk were so happy to put such a hard winter behind them and enjoy the sunshine.
The feelgood vibe continued on the way home on Saturday afternoon /evening.

Leaving Stirling and heading out on the Carse road to see field after field of beautiful green hay lying cut in the sun. Saw one baler out at work baling up.

Driving on towards the Argyll hills rising up in front of me bathed in evening sunlight , I reflected on what an incredible industry this is. Last year I posted about how another 2017 would drive cows off the West, and this year we're lookin for rain if anything.

It's an incredible rollercoaster the farming life, and yet year in year out, a group of us still meet up in an enormous field outside Edinburgh to look at livestock, machinery, blether , eat burgers and icecreams, have a few drinks and party on into (hopefully ) sunlit Summer evenings to our hearts content.

Looking around at the familiar faces I'm with, it makes me feel part of something huge. That we're still all there together through the years, through the ups and downs, good times and bad , friends brought together in a simple spirit of friendship, togetherness and good times shared between us.

The industry may be ever plagued with problems, but as long as we're all here to live life and celebrate together , then it's not too bad in my book.

The Highland. It's more than just a show.

Well I just had the best weekend ever. One of my best weekends at the show tbh. Shattered now though.

The ticket price may seem expensive but if you break it down into everything there is to see and do there and the amount of hours spent I'd say it works out pretty reasonable :)

I love the highland. Wouldn't miss it. It's tradition to go with my dad on the Friday as his father's day present...and then the rest of the weekend is socialising

Great Show.

Got the train up to Haymarket Station and bus out to Ingliston - no parking charges or traffic jams.
Bought the tickets on-line for £24 - and will get VAT back...….

Lost all my savings on some fancy shopping...………… not machinery.

Did some "research" but decided I couldn't afford to buy anything out of the machinery lines.
It is a "show" - not a "sale". I'll buy it soon enough.

Cattle and sheep lines are fantastic. Always amazed at the time folk put into showing their stock.

Social side great - met lots of friends, old and new.

RHASS made a brilliant job of organising the weather, too.

Country gal, do you wear the young farmer uniform that l/ my wife was talking about in my other thread?

Possibly a variation? On the Fri I did have white jeans. My shirt was pale blue but it wasn't a standard style or checked. It's got a sort of frill down the front and a high neck (I'm told it's a granny blouse) plus a blue tweed blazer for when it got cold. Yesterday dark blue jeans and the same shirt but in pink and a green tweed blazer. Both days tan belt and tan boots (ankle on Fri and knee length yeserday)
