Ploughing advice needed

i have a dowdswell dp8, 2+1 pulled by a 2wd nh 6640 wheels set at 60 inches, measurement between wheels is 48 inches inside to inside at the front and 45 inches at the rear . Will this 3 inches difference cause any issues?
Plough is set at 14 inches ucn , but it seems that the front is pulling narrow, but is also standing proud and high in relation to the other two ,why?
When I engage to plough into the ground I also seem to have to have the lift lever not very far down at all in fact when plough is working lift lever only has to be moved a fraction to lift plough up .
Plough is vertical to furrows ,pitch appears to be correct, tyre pressures same , lift rods same length,.
Should be straight forward to correct , but I seem to be missing something.
Any advice would be welcomed thanks.

Is the dp8 the one with the adjuster to suit different wheel widths has it got a ram for front furrow width . Sounds like your top link is to short it will pull better with a longer top link with the plough tending to look up at the front when you alter the adgusters for up and down movement if you move them down it also makes a wider front furrow .

My dp8 has a manual front furrow adjuster

Just got it up on you tube no your plough does not have the wheel width adjuster so you will have to get your wheel settings correct but i dont know what that is with 14 inch furrows but your front wheel wants to run in the same place as the inside of the back one

The op has described the front furrow width adjustment on his plough in his last post, the wheel track settings only have to be within certain limits and you set the exact front furrow width with the adjuster as described in my last post. I have ploughed a few thousand acres with a dp8 with this set-up.

Why not try pumping the rear wheels out a notch? With the front furrow narrow, the board will be closer to the ploughed land with a full depth slice needing to go somewhere (up).

Thats good advice, inside wheel width for a dp8a should be 44 - 56 ins. 45 ins on the rear wheels is hardly enough. After that the front furrow width adjuster can be used to set furrow width in various condititions.

Try wheels at 64 inch centres, then adjust true line adjuster until it pulls straight, top link on lowest hole in tractor and on slot on plough headstock, stabilizers un locked

I plough with a similar set-up to yours, only I use a 2WD Ford 6610. My DP8 is also a 2+1, although the +1 is sat in the corner of the shed. My rear wheels are set at 60" centres and the fronts at 56" - this gets my inside tyre walls within a couple of inches of each other.

On the manual front furrow adjustment, I've got the plough wound right over - this gives me a good looking front furrow.

Like yours, my DP8 is set at 14" with UCN bodies, although with the rear disc, it's ploughing wider than 28" in total. It would be good to pull narrower furrows to get them looking better at matches, but that's not possible with mine, neither is fitting a front disc. I fitted a sword coulter to try to address the no front disc problem

Just plough deeper! Some on 10" run the minimum depth and make more passes but the ratio endures provided the ground is sound. A host on chalk got jumpy when I arrived with a Jumbotrac!
