Ploughing headlands neat...

Anyone know any tricks for ploughing headlands out from the edge to the middle of the field neatly? Currently on the final run I just lift up the rear furrow slightly with a hydraulic top link - to reduce the final furrow depth, this isn't ideal of course though as then not all the ploughing is at full depth... (Obviously when ploughing the headlands in from the middle, I can just do the first run opposite, leaving a furrow for me to run in, to keep it level and neat)

I'm hoping there is some sort of trick I'm missing, but for the life of my cannot think of anything other than what I already do...

Are well ,,if its going to be next years spud land ,,leave it at full depth ,then before you start preping it ,,run down the last furrow with a heavy ripper ,,it fills it in nicely ,,presume you ridge and seperate pre planting

Plough won’t run properly holding it on the top link you need to get out and adjust the depth wheel. If you have your headlands marked out properly and you are burying the trash properly your final furrow should be running in black ground not very deep at all!

Why would it be any shallower than any other run?

I've never had any issues using it like that, the plough is a lemken jewel 8 so the wheel sticks out a little wider than the plough - I don't want to leave a compacted strip where the wheel runs.

All this does is take the pressure off of the wheel, all the bottoms are in the ground, it's only the last one which is only going in a few inches

I wouldnt worry about one narrow strip , by the time you have ridged and separated next year, you wont know it was there,,as I said ,drop a ripper in to all the open furrows before hand .old superflow drag was our secret weapon.

Don’t imagine your compacting much that isnt going to be removed when doing the ground work for the spuds! You said it wasn’t ideal as everything isn’t ploughed full depth but when ploughing the last time round your headland your back 2 bodies will be overlapping into ground already ploughed at full depth so the back one only being a couple of inches deep shouldn’t be a problem?
