Tern Valley Vintage Ploughing are holding a spring ploughing match at short notice to make up for all those that have been cancelled,
Date Saturday 21st April 10am start
Venue just south of Tern Hiil ( near Market Drayton ) sign posted off Main A41
All vintage/classic classes catered for including classic reversible.

Some good reading in there KVes80. My Dexta have a look at these for rules - freely available for all.
Lots of good sensible things in there and interesting to see that the 10points per aspect makes much more sense when broken down as in these rules. Good that the straightness total is not averaged out although this might well be the one aspect that needs to be 20 to stop bunching around 7 points. If 1/2 points are to be used to decide then better to go to 20.
Some draconian rules in there for VM - depth wheel no more than 4” wide and no cutting ring allowed. Not sure about all starting in the same direction with the higher number on the right though. Surprised straightness is not a vintage aspect. After all a good number of us think that that is where most of the skill lies.

All good food for thought from a well thought out document which is well presented in general.

Ongar 100th ploughing match at High Laver Hall, CM5 0DU this Saturday, 15th September. Over 100 ploughing plus ploughing through the ages to include horses, steam engines and various interesting tractors to include International Titan, Marshall MP6, MF 1200 and Doe 130.

For those going to Dishforth on Saturday there is no access to the site at Catton from Skipton on Swale which is the usual way in. Access via A167 and Catton Moor lane, travelling South from Busby Stoop turn right, travelling North from Topcliffe turn left.
