A very good effort Emma, you probably have the bug now, in Ireland they have the " Farmerette " class specially for young ladies, you and the other lady plough girls may well be the start of such a class over here

Nice little plough. What boards are on it? Does it qualify for classic class?

Yes it does qualify for the classic class. Lot of contradictory evidence about what they were called though. These are the Hydrein bodies brought over en masse by Bamford for general purpose ploughing. They are distinctly different from either the Super Hydrein or the Hydrein specials brought out specifically for match ploughing, both of which are currently excluded from the classic class.

Just to complicate matters further, there is another body which, and please correct me if I am wrong, called the Hydrex which was produced in 1957 and qualifies for the vintage class. It appears to be very similar to the Hydrein Specials.

Confused or what?
I'm must confess l'm very confused. In a couple of posts on the cross shaft adjuster Tonym listed boards that weren't allowed in classic and they included kverneland hydreins. Roy Stokes relates a story about someone wanting to fit TCN boards to his kverneland frame but Ken Chapple said no.
Here's where my confusion kicks in. If the above plough is eligible with hydreins then provided a frame is old enough why can't they be fitted to it.
To say you can't fit them to a match plough provided it meets the age criteria seems absurd. Isn't the TS 86 a bespoke match frame? Can you use the hydreins on a TS 86? Perhaps I am missing something or maybe I am just thick!

Very loosely then I think the original set perameters were that the body should have been available for / offered with the frame at the time of manufacture.
With an 86 there was a choice of TCN, RWM & YL. This still fits the Classic Class.
Personally I think any departure from the Classic Class as is in England would be the ruination of a very good class.
Numerous different bodies have been fitted to 86's over the years and used in Worldstyle. Many different bodies have also been fitted to KV and Dowdeswell frames for use in Worldstyle as well. In this class there are no restrictions.
Probably a fortuitous time for the introduction of Classic Worldstyle.

Thanks for the clarification, hopefully that'll stop my brain from over heating.

The sand not gliding too well of the boards and skimmers . Not much fun walking behind in blowing rain. . Sand blasted and flap wheeled it , but needs some stoney going to shine it but that bit was too wet .And a few challenges running a few gares off. And 17 mill rain made it a bit soft

Stoney flinty land will just gouge the boards, hard dry clay will shine them. And you need to scrape them clean every end.

Hard plough to use for competetive work. On some land they have the potential to stick even when bright. One other problem is that they tend to run hard to land which makes the set pieces even harder for a beginner. Difficult though not impossible.
Might have to bite the bullet and get her a Ransomes. I know wher there is a four furrow in need of a good home that would strip down to make a good 2 furrow!

Brian, I wish you and Emma every success , but which classification are you aiming for ? Your MF240 is too new for classic, your new plough is classic but uncompetetive. I am not trying to pour cold water and would love to see Emma succeed but follow the old adage-"spend once and spend wiseley".
