Help! Ploughing kv 6 LB. and the back furrow won’t go in the ground. Front is full then less and less to the back. All measures are fine ploughs up right

When i used to plough, the back shear always use to ware the quickest for some reason, maybe its worn down just to much to bite in. I used to weld an extra strip on which helped.

Funny you should ask that but which hole should the top link go in on the tractor,I was going to ask which hole is best and does it help with penetration

I only ever used the one hole,Top front, but some use both.

The slotted hole. Technically you don’t need a top link, it’s really only for lifting. So it’s on the slotted

Assuming the depth wheel is not carrying too much?

Try less depth on the hydraulics, / ease the plough up a bit .. it gets lifted from the front first iyswim

But having said that it sounds to me like the grounds v hard .?

Lean the plow over towards the unplowed ground a bit. I find that helps with penetration in tough going.

Points are good, there is plenty of weight on depth wheel, top link is in middle of slotted hole, pitch is plum upright, tyre pressures are the same, link arms same length, check chains same length.

Try shallowing out the front and lift the depth wheel .

Only way to go. Beam can't be level with the ground .

Sort of tried that, only real result I got was it didn’t match up back never reallybwent in.

if the ploughs all set perpendicular etc

and assuming they are working correctly ...tractor hydraulics must need adjustment, depth or sensing dial needs twiddling ir ….only a bit at a time though.

yeah discs will, especial;ly if its hard or stoney, unless its cutaway discs, theyre a bit btter
.. but not to the degree you are talking about I shouldn't think.

Points are good, there is plenty of weight on depth wheel, top link is in middle of slotted hole, pitch is plum upright,

if it wont go in, and there is plenty of weight on depth wheel, then its the depth wheel thats holding it out,
you say points are good, but, do they have suck to ground ? they need to be below the bottom of landslide, or landslide will hold it out,

I, too, think it's your depth wheel holding it out. To be sure, get a bit of stick out of the hedge bottom and wedge it under the depth stop on the wheel, so that it doesn't 'catch' as you lower it in to work.

I think you'll find your back furrow will be deep enough then

Makes sense, when the depth wheel gets stuck on turn over it sinks in then, I’ll wind depth stops right up! And see what happens. Depth at the moment is a good 9 inches going to be interesting to see what it will be when I wind them in.
