I plough with 16in @ 8-10in depth 7-9 kph depending on terrain. What width do you plough at ?
I ran slats for years and they're good we were no 8 and 9 before that and they trailed badly but the ploughs were on 14 inch .
Fast forward 20 yrs and I'm back on boards a no28 and a bit more width depth and forward speed and they run clean 99 percent of the time with the exception of a couple of very light fluffy bits
Slats should definitely help they are a fair bit more expensive to run than boards and leave a looser finish than a no 28 but I still like them. We've still got our slatted plough and I use it every now and then. But the boarded one does most of our work nowI plough with 16in @ 8-10in depth 7-9 kph depending on terrain.
Yep, the no.30 body works a treat as well as giving you a wide furrow bottom for wider tyres and a good inversion! What are the best types of bodies that reduce the amount of soil loading or sticking to the plough bodies.
I have no. 8s on my KV and they really load on some soils which makes the ploughing bad. Would slatted bodies be any better??
Never knew anyone used them. What make of plough?Slats will kinda crumble the soil which is fine if its dry but if it gets heavy rain afterwards which the soil seems to absorb more than if not slatted boards. U should look at plastic boards as they will run clean with the stickiest of soils. Iv a new plough comin in next few weeks with them for this very reason as i was heart broke with plough not runnin clean
They're big in New Zealand on the black fluffy ground plenty kv running then out thereNever knew anyone used them. What make of plough?
If you take them on a stony bit do they last? They're big in New Zealand on the black fluffy ground plenty kv running then out there
I dunno I've a mate farms out in the waikato and it's him that tells me that plastic are popular. If you take them on a stony bit do they last?
No, we had a set of experimental black plastic boards on a Overum circa 30 years ago, the brash soils ate them in short order. If you take them on a stony bit do they last?
Well i know of 1 locally with them on and it and wear isnt an issue on the soil round here. We have stones but generally not sharp stones. Its a nh plough which is basicly a overum/kongskildeNever knew anyone used them. What make of plough?
Yes.Can you put 28 bodies in place of 9s
