Pneumonia

Iv 10 ml of reflor in it around 2 pm but it's still blowing pretty bad il not get draxin at this time of night
Try a bit more and the levacide, why does everything happen at Christmas!? Had one a month ago, tried almost everything on it then stuck 20 ml engimycin and metacam into it and told it that it could live now or die, the choice was it's own, and it has picked up well.

Resflor is a good choice. The dose rate is 1ml per 7.5kg - so your 4 month old calf only weighs 75kg? I'd guess (if well grown) it could weigh more than twice that. I think the issue is more likely under-dosing rather than product choice.

Resflor is antibiotic and anti-inflammatory.

We have used hexasol for years n always seems to do the trick with calves, we have been led to belive zactran is the best drug to treat pneumonia but at 200 quid a bottle it's kinda priced its self out.

Depends how you look at it. Hexasol is 1ml/10kg, Zactran 1ml/25kg - a 100ml bottle treats 2.5X the weight of animals.

Hexasol lasts ~5 days, Zactran ~10 days. So thats double the cover - X2

If 1ml Zactran costs 5X as much as 1ml Hexasol then they are equivalent in value.

Not to mention saving one animal with the more expensive product compared to the cheaper one.

Not to mention the advantage of sub cut low volume versus a large intramuscular injection that will leave scarring and tough muscle forever.

The longer acting Draxxin/Zactran/Zuprevo actually work out very cost effective. We quite commonly see relapses after shorter acting products.

Not denying that zactran is better, but does it not have a short shelf life, it's expensive when end up having to chuck 3/4 of a bottle away.. I've tried asking the vet for odd shot but they don't keep it in stock special order by the bottle.
