I have that reg on retention I bought it to sell on tbh But ...
I’ve spent last few years looking for a nice reg on a classic tractor or something with my initials so I could put log book in my name make some plates up for all the machines/trailers and not have to keep swopping and make in new plates up as I change tractors
I can’t find one so I believe I can assign it to a tractor from new but I’d then have to keep tractor as it would be stuck on it for ever . So should I buy the cheapest smallest tractor or quad I can , register it with that number plate from new and then put that on back of all my stuff
If so what’s cheapest new tractor I can get before 1st March
Or is it possible to put it on a ag quad ?

Agree - but check whether it can ever be transferred off from an ag vehicle once registered.

Or put that plate on a tractor, quad etc, dumper that never goes on the road - and then sell it for real to someone on its retention 😉

We have an old Massey 65 bought new in 1958, use it's number for all the ag trailers as it's in the shed and will never be sold. On DVLA database, and I think taxed.

Must go on a vehicle registered after the date of licence plate issue.
once on a tractor, always on a tractor.
suspect some potato baron would pay good money for it to go there new RR
Know of a farmer who had his initials on his tractor.
Only because you are given a list when registering a vechile from new.

I suppose if you wanted to put a tractor through a MOT or change it to a HGV it would be doable?
