Pod sealant

Anyone use pod stick on their rape. I usually put mine on when I desiccate
Does anyone go through early with it at the green stage? I’m contemplating doing it shortly but wonder if it might not help the absorption of glyphosate later, given that it seems to be getting less efficient on rape nowadays anyway ?

Been wondering this to. I went through separately last year but wondering if the losses from two passes equates to battering through with the one at dessciation.
Is it swings and roundabouts??

I've applied it for a number of years now,Ive always put it in with the glyphosate.
The benefit about putting it on now is if your rape is at different stages when it comes to desiccation, you can leave just the glypho in your sprayer without having to wash that ruddy glue out:mad:.

Wondering this year if I should drop it.
Its the only product I use I'm not totally convinced about.

No doubt my agronmist will talk me around,.................. again!

That’s interesting... can I ask why ?

They've tried it and don't like it. I don't like it either. Makes my sprayer all sticky.

If anyone *does* want some, I have 110lt of Senate pod sticker available from last time at a good discount. Easy collection for anyone coming to cereals from the north, or south who doesn't mind a shirt trip north of Lincoln.

If you apply it separately to the glyphosate can at least leave some areas untreated, so can then take a look later to see what if anything it did.

Unless your rape is a weedy mess why glyphosate at all ?

We spend all year trying to keep crops green as that means more yield then come July (a very sunny month ) we can’t wait to kill them !

A bit of patience and no glyphosate has led to much better yields here the last few years

Yep, concur. but you know, patience, farmers and combine drivers tend to be uncomfortable bedfellows.

I'm short of storage/drying capacity,so I need it in dried and out of the shed too make room for the wheats, plus it spreads the combining bottle kneck.

I used to put it on in separate pass and also change the direction to push the end rig trams all the same way on turns , to save damaging by turning against it .

Don't have osr anymore but always felt savage turning against the crop bend before

We spend a load of money to keep it alive and then spray it with glyphosate. Doesn’t seem right to me.

Same as with spuds?

Pod sealant has an effect, not total, but in marginal situations can show a benefit. Hence it is an insurance measure at a fraction of the value of the crop.

Harvesting without desiccation would be fine in the very few completely even crops around this year, but even here it means a slower harvest.
