Thinking about replacing a quad for a buggy. A polaris 570 petrol. As the diesels are too much money and a bit sluggish from what ive heard. 570 with full cab and heater for £9k. All looks ok but ive been told there not very reliable and folk wont keep them out of warranty.... whats the thoughts?

We are on our second diesel now and both have been near enough faultless. Use it everyday of the year on a mixed farm and it is incredibly frugal on diesel I don't no how it works on the amount it uses. We have the heater and aircon and don't rate it but they may have improved it, power steering is well worth having. They are not the fastest off the line but I have never found it an issue. Very comfortable, good at towing and wouldn't have anything else. If you are buying new I wouldn't worry about the extra few K for a diesel as on finance per month it's not much more

Have you tried the new Polaris x1000 diesel? I was sceptical after hearing such bad things about the older models but dealer was confident it was a huge improvement!

My dealer assures me they are better but its hard to go for another one after the trouble I’ve had!! It’s only a 2016 machine

We bought a Honda HRV Car 4WD(its light) with towbar does all we want on 300 acres no hill land albeit but plenty of difficult land. Soaking wet here and still not getting stuck.£450 limited use no £0 tax on road allowed to travel 1.5 mile from furthest boundary and £60 to insure. No brainer against a quad for us. folded back seats down and plonked a piece of plywood on top for dogs and carrying any farm kit, feed etc. Google them and plenty on ebay

Had a look at most of them today. Can am hd8 is may favourite but 13k ish with full cab. Kawasaki mule 700 with full cab and heater 9.5k looks very well built and a close second. Droped polaris idea. 4 to demo in next week or two.
On my HD8 I’ve got glass screen, basic roof, plastic back window and canvas doors. No need for heater as there’s a fair bit of warm air coming through the dash off the radiator. Plus i only put the drivers door on if it’s really heavy rain. Can’t remember what the total cost was but I’ll find out for you.
Done nearly 21000 miles now (not sure about hours as it’s stuck on 0070!) no real issues except I put a load of dirty fuel in it :banghead: brake pads changed at 14k front tyres did 12k back did 18.5k. I wouldn’t go back to a quad.
Think service intervals are 200 hrs. I just wait till the light comes on.
