Pole lean to barn

Looking to stick up a lean to barn, initial thinking is telegraph poles and glad either one side or two.

Its to essentially cover an area of existing hard standing at the back of a fully clad dutch barn.

Main and likely sole purpose would be to keep machinery under cover.

Shed size is 10m (along the back of the barn) and 5-7m wide.

Is a pole barn going to be my best option?

Define best?!

Quickest and best - steel frame

If you have a pile of poles and like building/making things - pole.

I have a pile of secondhand timbers and sheets and a pile of poles so I am putting one up at an outlying field as and when I get a minute but i put up an all new shed up at my one day home all new as I wanted it up in a timely fashion and was buying all new cladding.

I know where there is a brand new mono pitch roof steel frame (all columns are there as a stand alone building not a lean to) 10m x 6m set up to take timber purlins. It’s £3k. Pm me if you want the chaps contact details.

Best as in cost effective and will do the job. Steel would be the choice if money was no object.

@Warp Land Farmer thanks for the offer but I’ll leave it for now cheers

Is the Dutch barn in good condition? If so and likely to stay for a long time do it in steel, looks better, lasts longer, less likely to get damaged in storms, and more easily put to other uses ie industrial let’s( if that’s in your radar). The difference between using steel uprights and rafters vs wood won’t be huge and that is the only saving. If you are not in a rush you may be able to fine some second hand steel.
