Poly tunnel

Can I put up a poly tunnel without need for any planning permission etc ?

What do they cost and where do you buy them ? are they easy to erect etc ?

I've seen them sheeted with a space heater underneath to warm up the sheet so when it cools it contracts tight onto the hoops. I've seen them sheeted in the cold with no form of natural or mad heat and go very saggy in a short space of time.

eBay really the best place ? surely there are people who specialise in these things ? some ares of the country seem tone covered with them

got mine from northern polytunnels via ebay....also premier polytunnels

what do you want it for....if you're going to pay to put it up you're perhaps better considering steel portal

Think it depends on your local councils interpretation of planning as some accept them as temporary structures and some do not, but if no body can see it what's the harm, Northern polytunnels pretty good, think YouTube has erecting instructions

have a potential diversification that my wife is interested in taking forward that would need one, pretty sure it would fall under agricultural / horticultural use though, she has more time on her hands now our children are a bit older and at school full time, very much at the research and feasibility stage right now however

think you're right....one pt out of sight is one thing....a whole host roadside is another

also if you need to concrete in then it could be argued planning needed

it would be is a position that can bee seen, 200m from nearest property other than our own though which is why it needs to be a smart job and not a DIY bodge

well if it's growing stuff then yes pt....but if it were for say an indoor farmers market or something like that i'd be tempted to consider steel portal....if you're looking to dodge planning be careful cos the end use could matter...eg if you had sheep in one the planners might roll their eyes and say ok....but if you wanted to sell sh cars from one they'd say 'oi he's trying to circumvent planning'....if that makes sense
