Pontins

Having read this article and a couple of others, and seeing that Pontins have been accused of discriminating on the grounds of ethnicity, it looks as if they have indeed cast the net to widely. But it will be interesting to see if they offer a defence of having based their policy on lifestyle rather than ethnicity. We all know that Irish 'travellers' are overwhelmingly thieving, lying, destructive and filthy - I've only ever come across or heard of a couple of exceptions.

What with 'wokeness' currently being fashionable, I'm wondering if whoever will be judging this will find that these qualities and the associated lifestyle are 'intrinsic' to the travellers' ethnicity, and therefore may not be a basis for discrimination... :banghead:

Of course you can only admire and would wish to support Pontins for barring troublemakers of any kind, very much including this cohort. Absolutely.

If on the other hand, you being a peaceful law abiding citizen, found yourself barred from any and all such places, just because you shared a surname with that cohort, then I think you would be most entitled to have that wrong corrected.

By the way, the list of names was brutally random and incorrect. Many, many surnames listed we in Ireland would never associate with the mobile cohort. In the same way, a few key names were omitted ..... in fact the top three names were omitted.

Personally I’m all for barring the correct “cohort” from everything possible. Full stop.
That said, using an eighteen ton track machine to plant a few daffodils .....

We agree.

Be a bit of a job to exclude all those with the surname starting in S and ending in mith.

I’m surprised they have banned all surnames starting o’.

I thought gypsies just rocked up to some random field? Have they all gone soft that they need to stay at a proper site. Snowflakes the lot of them.

If the list thats published are the only names Pontins are excluding then they are way left of the mark, having grown up in the same county in Ireland which is the 'home' of these nice wandering folk there are only a few names on here which we would associate and a lot lot more that are not listed and would be the bad ones.

There's a hotel near here, old school type place, non -chain.
travellers booked for wedding under unsuspicious names and took the place apart, constant fighting, stealing from bar, staff in fear.
Apparently they like to be amongst their own community, if so, why not just stay there!
Police won't touch them round here.
since planning laws discriminate in their favour now, a lot are just property developers these days.

Is there anything worth nicking from a Pontins Holiday Camp?

Alternatively, Pontins could set aside a special area and segregated ablutions for them, and give them a discount for painting any shed roofs or repairing any tarmac roadways. They obviously never thought it through.
