It always hurts less to load out at spot value on the day, having not sold higher, than it does to load out a forward sale at £30 under spot.

That’s quite important factor when lambasting an early pool for not having a 2 infront of it!
Err, where did I lambast them ?
I was at a presentation given by Grainco, those were figures presented, early and mid were the terms used, they did how ever claim their figures were better than their competitors, their words not mine.

That’s how it came across to me, apologies. I thought you meant they claimed to be too dog so should have a 2 in front of their early pool.

Seen grainco figures, not that I’m in it, but the mid had a 2 in front, the early did not, and they claim they are top dog 🤷🏻
im in grainco pool and consider I am well served. If id been marketing my own mid pool from this time last year doubt id have managed plus 200 but,on committing a few load last feb to give me the breathing space to not sell any on my own till after harvest is well in front so atm our average 21 harvest fw sales are comfortably above 220 and i have to ask those folk who sold forward last spring have they done better than 200 on their forward pre harvest sales average , Looking back on what folks did on here i doubt it but its all a risk what ever we do

I quit grainco pools as they deemed to think theyhad license to send a wagon for loading anytime they wanted. Maybe 20 mins notice if they were organised.
Price wise they did pretty well, I would give them 20% of harvest tonnage, partly for the early payment, partly in the hope that we cant both sell on the wrong day.

They came and sat at my table promising the haulage notice issue was sorted so i tried them again. It was worse

This is exactly my experience re, grainco, just rock up with just a few minutes warning.
Best one was, I’d just landed in Thailand and was riding in a taxi into BK, phone rings (god knows why I’d switch it on) any how I answered, voice on the other end says, “ it’s a grainco driver, I’ve come for a load of wheat”, Ok says I, slight problem I’m in a taxi on the Din Dang expressway Bangkok 🤣
