Poor Broadband?

We have a company from Hull digging holes every ,,Kcom ,,supposedly super fast broadband except all the reviews about them dont make for good reading .
Nobody wants it and all they are doing is making a mess of grass verges and footpaths .
EE have been inundated with calls asking if Kcom are trying to force customers into using their service .

We’ve got that too and until a fibre comes up the drive that is it , up yours bt 😂😂😂
Fluctuates between 8mb and 80mb but it at worst ten times better than BT’s copper offerings
I am the last house on the line,8km from the exchange and I had to bury 800m of copper cable to get connected in the first place so it will never be upgraded ☹️

We enquired about the grant last year for rural broadband which was £3400 towards getting FTTP from our nearest Openreach cabinet just over a mile away. We said we would pay a bit more, but the initial quote was £50K, which rose to £150K, six months later ! As with a lot of things there seems to be a difference in what the government says you may get to what you actually do get.

Try Airband uk. It’s getting very popular around here with more masts going up.
Family near Ludlow have just switched and said it’s been a vast improvement .

That will depend on the subsidy given to Openreach to connect everyone in Wales. They came out and surveyed us last year, ready to put FTTP quarter of a mile across my fields just to connect four houses. One has never had a landline connected, but that would be sorted too apparently.
We’re on 15-16Mb on the normal phone line, so hardly a priority I’d have thought.

How much does your EE SIM card cost? I can 60Mb on 4G at the house (1000m line of site to the mast), but too tight for any sim prices I’ve seen.

I have 4G broadband here with an external antenna. The copper wire ADSL just wasn't stable or fast enough for Zoom/Teams calls. I do have a phone mast 1 mile away. No ground in the way but a few trees blocking the line of sight.

It's not the download speed that's the problem, although it could be soooo much faster, it's the upload speed, here. I was approached to do some paid work by three potential employers, but could not proceed because I cannot link with their voip or equivalent.

Our speeds today are .7 download and upload.I have unplugged the router from the phone line and using the 4g backup dongle that’s supposed to kick in when phone line down.waiting for bt to ring and moan about that one.Been told by open reach they won’t replace copper cable and no we will not get fibre yet it’s only a mile away.Told us on the lane we have to pay for cable.

How does the BT dongle work out in terms of performance? I used to be a BT BB customer in an area of no mobile signal & dependent on wifi calling. They sent me 2 of those damn things despite it being useless.

I'd keep an eye on your monthly bills if you're continuing to use the dongle.
