as the title says, what do others think, i held on thinking id be better selling in the early spring but im probably worse off with all the extra feed and bedding costs than taking a hit in the autumn, not alone all the worry and labour costs, if something dosnt change pretty soon ill consider packing it all up

You talking selling fat or stores? The fat price is crap.

the answer in the past other than selling up, might have been adopting a ranching attitude, ie spending the bare minimum on the livestock and getting not much out? but into days world with land values not atall based on the lands earnablity in farming enterprises its totally different, id honestly like to think things in the uks livestock sector getting better but when? it could get alot worse?

when i said back to the 1970s thread, what really gets me is i bet the national flock of sheep, herd of beef cattle, milking cows, pigs was a lot lot bigger, has anyone any statistics to say national herd numbers in say 1976 to today, also dont even mention our fishing fleet then to today?

Disappointing... I am holding back a small bunch of outwintered weanlings, to come straight off the cow. Try them in Mid April and hope for better times...

Mind, Herself sold 3 ewes with twins yesterday and came back with happy smile... I said WTF are we keeping any of the ewes and lambs back for in that case...o_O
