At the age of 38 the son of our former PM has just bought a London mansion for £22 million. The poor man claims to have earned his money from a business started six years ago with a friend. That is unbelievable progress considering that the last two years have been extremely difficult. I hope he has been paying his taxes like a good socialist.

The Blairs were never socialists.
Nor was Putin except when it suited him.
The Blairs were never socialists.
Who were the true socialist Labour leaders/PMs? Bevan, Wilson or Kinnock perhaps or do you include Foot and Corbyn. They seldom turn up with a plausible agenda, certainly in recent times. You may laugh but the average UK voter hovers around liberal democrat in their views but their party has spent years in the wilderness because of their deeply entrenched Europhilia. They probably did more to promote the Brexit vote than they perhaps realise.
I still feel that we need a new party to emerge because the present crowd are all tainted.

He made £320 Million selling shares in an online education company.

I remember the student protests against the tuition fees (£1k a year) when I went in 1999.

I think the chant was "Tax the rich. Make them pay." Sigh.

What has been created with Student Fees is an abomination. Yes people can get an high interest loan - far higher than a mortgage - those people are milked by bankers for at least a generation. But educating the general public to create an efficient work force, re-skilling those who's jobs have turned out ot be not long term and filling UK jobs has never been the aim - just milking people for money, in this case Universities.

If they fail to pay back the loan then it falls back on the tax payer - and I think foreign students can also apply - then disappear back into the ether of the EU.

It's another mess - Privatisation of Utilities has turned out to be horrific IMHO. Businesses get no Cap on energy and the contracts are Draconian, with no pretense of doing an efficient job - just milking the cr@p out of people.
