Post BPS Farming

Worse case scenario we put the whole farm down to environmental schemes and then take a job off farm.

I'm guessing that ELMs will be kind of based around the current mid-tier scheme?

If so then working out how to farm alongside a mid-tier scheme would be a potential way to go.

I believe that the current amount set aside for BPS budget has been protected for ELMs?

I suppose the thinking by the government is to make us carbon zero as a country by getting us to do all these environmental schemes, but then we'll just have to import more food to make up for the shortfall, meaning in reality we're just exporting our Co2 caused from food production, so not helping save the planet at all...

Seem to be trying to improve land here at the moment and increasing numbers of breeding stock. I’m not sure my maths can manage to get the shortfall of bps replaced by profit on the increased numbers. At least it’s an attempt at replacing what’s not coming I’m not sure what else can be done looking at it all

Hill farms aren’t going to find it easy with suckler cows and breeding ewes.
Those that have destocked to some degree will find it even harder to get back into a production based business when stock will be to buy land improve machinery to buy and more work to be done. I can’t see it happening in many cases

I don’t see how there is going to be enough money for all these stewardship schemes especially the ones that are £450/ha

Mid Tier was originally intended to be competitive. And would have been if uptake of farmers leaving ELS had been greater 2015 - 2019. One of the reasons the non competitive Simplified Arable Offer introduced, to encourage uptake. Will become competitive now judging from the posts on TFF??

I think it will be very competitive judging by posts on here and I think many will be disappointed
