Have a Protech 300 plus, don’t have the hydraulic front legs, not a big issue but would be nice. Great machine, very nicely made , but does need some lugging about , esp on slopes.

Whats the reason for the 2nd from bottom post being so low?

Protech have grown rapidly over recent years.
They struggle to keep up with orders but there is a reason. They are very good, well thought out machines at a realistic price so are the machine to have.

Regarding rock spikes.
Its something that I wouldn't want to be without. However if you are on relatively soft ground and not a lot of stone then you could manage without.
I wouldn't want to manage without telescopic boom and slow. This is the most important feature.

I have a wrag basic xl with 300kg weight and rock spike. Its a good machine for what we do. Slew is very handy for getting in corners

Just looked in the Halse book, you can spend best part of 16k on a protech post driver, fantastic
I gave about 600 quid for my browns basher it was "like new" about 15 year ago, hardly had a post it won't drive yet and it don't weigh much the little old 565 will take it most places in the winter without making a mess

You can buy cars at different prices. Both get you from a to b.
Post drivers - pay more for more features/convenience.
I upgraded from 200 to 300 Protech last year as I wanted rock spike, telescopic and heavier weight.
No regrets.

We bought a Protech P300S last year and very pleased with it. It seemed a bit overkill at the time but have taken on the odd contracting job in addition to all the farm fencing we are doing. No regrets. Go full spec and I'm confident you won't regret it. Can't see me buying another anytime soon so glad I went for a good one.

Another vote for Protech. I can’t fault my p400 apart from the paint work isn’t great in some place.

Another vote for Protech, 230 should be plenty good enough. It’s a proper contractors machine but fits on a reasonably small tractor, I’ve been just about everywhere with mine over the last 18 months
