Protec have round weights like that.slice of ex ship prop shaft , ......but thats round i know
where can I get my hands on a chunk of billet 300mm square 350mm long?
any suggestions welcome!
TIA!
any idea on a source for such a thing?Cheapest option as above I would have thought. If you're dead set on those sizes, why not have the shape profiled in thick plates, prep the edges and weld them together to form the block that you want?
oh jesus!!Any good quality steel stockist should be able to get you that size of billet. I got a 400kg 350dia x 550mm from Franklin Steel. Was expensive though at approx. £800

Not fixed on those dimensions just something similar.
iv'e looked at the plate option but I was thinking there must be somebody out there who knows where these things are sourced, round would be just as good!
Box section thick plate either end fill with lead.
Always the kirk roof .......... (joke)i keep thinking that but i'm not sure on buying lead would come out cheap!
I see from your location that you're mid wales- have you tried Dyfed steels? Other options could be Parker steel, precision profiles or Malthouse engineering. As a suggestion maybe look at a plate thickness that is likely to be "on the shelf" eg 25/ 30mm thick plate. Doing it this way also has the added benefit of allowing you any shape that you want so you could for example have a guide hole profiled in along with a recess on one side the allowed it to locate about the main shaft if that makes sense?
Cheaper option fill with scrap.some concrete to stop it rattelinBox section thick plate either end fill with lead.
Borrowed a post knocker.Cheaper option fill with scrap.some concrete to stop it rattelin
Got a bit of pipe filled in a foundry for mine .Wouldn't be a hard job for a foundry to pour a block.
