Post office scam

Beware ... OH has just been scammed by a bogus Post Office scam .
If you get a text off 'The Post Office' saying your parcel cannot be delivered as the postage is unsufficiently paid ...... DO NOT PAY ! ..... the amount they ask for is paltry but the amount they pinch is significantly more

Sorry to read this HC, think most of us have this or a similar scam text from courier services.
How do they take more than the £2.99 they ask for though? Thought it was just a numbers game...

Once they have your card number and pin .

Full name on the card
Expiry date
Last 3 digits on the back - security code (near signature panel)

Job done, spend on your card up to the credit limit or until you inform your bank and cancel the card

If you give anyone your card details they can take as much as they like!!!

I get these texts weekly, just ignore them

Scribble it down, when you give it over the phone or enter it into a text invite to call them
Too easy, nowadays
Mugging you for cash was harder and more dangerous

Had that one, 2 weeks ago, but happily nothing was due...

Easily fall for that one.

Be better to pop to the post office to view it if you were expecting something than just pay over the phone. Sick world we live in with all these scams, they must worry the elderly something awful.

There is no legit reason wny 'the Post Office' should have the mobile number of a recipient!

My mobile instantly picks up on these numbers and shows a scam number warning on the screen ,,its built in to the system and the landline has caller ID display ,,used get the Card fraud has been detected calls until I got onto EE and now its X directory , even that hasnt stoped them ,,got one at 7 this morning

Too often the scammers use a device which can show up as being from your or at least a bank which can show up as Barclays ( or wharever ) on your phone

I had that message other week and deleted it. I don’t trust anything on text now tbh it’s such a minefield.

Sorry to hear , and its easy to say as I've not been scammed but where do you think the post office got your phone number?? (cos the post office didn't it was the scammers) ?
Never ever ,ever answer a text/email/phone call saying parcel lost/delayed/tracking -just click here .....
Regulary get phone calls saying they can halve my phone contract but they can't tell me what i pay .......sad world........
